Duties and Responsibilities

Establishing and maintaining productive relationships with MSU’s students, staff, industry and community to stimulate awareness of intellectual property issues and commercial opportunities.
Encouraging an innovative and entrepreneurial culture within MSU;
Technical advice on product development and associated research and development.
Engaging directly and proactively with academic departments, industry and community to identify MSU’s intellectual property with potential for commercial exploitation.
Advising academics on, and executing the best mode of protection for MSU’s intellectual property.
Identifying appropriate routes to exploitation of IP.
Identifying potential industry partners for specific technology commercialisation opportunities;

Constant and very proactive liaising with the industry to facilitate technology transactions;
Engaging in technology licensing and new venture formation processes.
Guiding future research activity towards commercially relevant outcomes.
Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Innovation Manager.

Qualifications And Experience


Qualifications and Experience

A Bachelors degree in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) or related discipline.
A Masters degree in Intellectual Property (IP) or equivalent.
At least three (3) years of working experience and a track record in technology transfer.
The candidate must possess good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills at all levels within and outside the University.
Ability to interact with and influence individuals at all levels including investors, business partners, and governmental officials.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
